L’AGLIANICA WINE FESTIVAL
Venosa is well known as the city of wine, producing the famous Aglianico del Vulture (DOC) wine, one of Italy’s best red wines. Since 1999, the annual Aglianica Wine Festival has been held in September or October, with tastings, cooking classes and various other events.
The Mountain Festival is now in its fifth year. In addition to food and wine, music events and various mountain sports activities are scheduled throughout the festival including hiking, biking, climbing, paragliding and horse trekking. There is also a mountain fair; a market filled with typical mountain produce. Food stands offer tastings of truffle, mushrooms, chestnuts and berries.
Matera’s Kite Festival or Festa degli Aquiloni is fun and enchanting as it paints the sky with vibrant colours. This creative, family friendly event also includes activities such as yoga in the park, hiking, photography, workshops, archery and horse riding.
